2-Aminopyridines turned out to be a new class of ligand precursors suitable for the titanium-catalyzed inter- and intramolecular hydroaminoalkylation of alkenes. In the course of the corresponding studies, efficient catalysts of a first and a second generation were developed which led to the formation of the linear products as major regioisomers with high regioselectivities in the intermolecular hydroaminoalkylation of styrenes for the first time. Furthermore, these titanium-catalysts enabled the conversion of N-alkyl anilines and dialkylamines intermolecularly and of N-arylated secondary aminoalkenes intramolecularly. Moreover, in the presence of a very reactive titanium mono(formamidinate) catalyst, the intermolecular hydroaminoalkylation of 1,1- and 1,2-disubstituted alkenes and styrenes could be realized. Finally, while studying the reactivity of bis(eta5:eta1 adamantylidene pentafulvene) titanium complexes, the evidence of titanaaziridines as key intermediates in the mechanism of the intermolecular hydroaminoalkylation could finally be furnished. <engl.>
