<dt.>
The outline of this PhD thesis is concerned with the study of morphologic and electronic characteristics of cerium dioxide (111) thin films on a ruthenium (0001) crystal as a model system for heterogenous catalysis. The focus in this thesis is on oxygen vacancies in the O-Ce-O oxide layers, which control the catalytic activity of the model system and are introduced by annealing the film at highly reducing conditions. Under the same focus is the distribution of the copper nano-particles on the surface of the oxide films. Copper rather prefers to donate charges to Ce ions in the film that consequently transform from Ce^4+ to Ce^3+. Clear evidence for this comes from XPS investigations. The impact of the copper ad-particles on the degree of reduction is strong enough to drive the highest degree of reduction from former 17% to over 50% in the near surface regime. This means the amount of Ce^3+ ions in the film is comparable to that of the bixbyite stoichiometry of ceria (Ce_2O_3). <engl.>
<dt.>
Vehicle sound evaluation, as any kind of product sound evaluation, is a complex process. Along with purely acoustical aspects, such as comfort, sportiness, conformity with vehicle type and with vehicle make, also non-acoustical aspects like expectation, personality and situational context influence the perceived sound quality of a car. In this work, a model was developed for subjective vehicle sound evaluation. It incorporates the acoustical aspects comfort, sportiness and type conformity, as well as the non-acoustical aspects, vehicle type and driver type. Three driver types were found: sound-oriented fun-drivers, noise-sensitive aesthetes and sound-uninterested pragmatists. The influence of different driving conditions on sound evaluation was also investigated, indicating varying relevance for different acoustical aspects. An influence of the evaluation situation (i.e., real-life vs. lab evaluation) on vehicle sound assessment was also found. <engl.>
<dt.>
In this work, the comprehensive three-dimensional control of free electron wave packets by multiphoton ionization of potassium atoms using polarization- and phase-tailored bichromatic ultrashort laser pulses is demonstrated. To measure the wave packets, a velocity map imaging spectrometer and 3D reconstruction algorithms were made available within the framework of this work. The main research topics include the characterization of isolated angular momentum states, preparation and measurement of unusual superposition states, measurement of coupled spin-orbit dynamics, and not least the first-time experimental detection and control of vortex-shaped free electrons. In addition, first application scenarios of the "electron vortices" in the context of quantum holography are presented. <engl.>
